Pedro Gomis Roman

Bio

I am Pedro Gomis Roman, a Biomedical Engineer working with B2SLab at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya-Barcelona Tech (UPC). I collaborate as researcher at the Institut de Recerca i Innovació en Salut (IRIS), formerly the Research Center for Biomedical Engineering (CREB) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Polytechnic University of Catalonia, UPC) and I am retired Senior Researcher and Associated Professor of Informatics and Biomedical Engineering at Automatic Control Department (ESAII) of UPC. I was Full Professor at the University Simon Bolivar (USB), Venezuela, until 2002. Since 1984 I have worked with the Bioengineering and Biophysics Applied Group (GBBA) at the same University where I taught Biomedical Signals and Systems in post-graduated programs. My research work has also been done at the St. Bartholomew’s Hospital College, University of London, U.K. and University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, USA.

At B2SLab, we are applying Bioinformatics and Bioengineering, mainly towards cardiovascular research. Our main focus, however, is applied signal processing, machine learning and statistical pattern recognition as diagnostic and monitoring tools in clinical applications.

Teaching

I have been a teacher at UPC, at the Master in Biomedical Engineering and at the Degree of Biomedical Engineering, where I have taught InformaticsBiomedical Signal ProcessingClinical Engineering, Modelling and Control of Biomedical Systems and Information Systems and Communications for Health Services.

I have also been writing some material for several classes, please check the following:
